How to Brand Water Bottles for Corporate Gifting

A branded water bottle is one of the few corporate gifts people keep using every day. It sits on a desk, goes into meetings and travels in bags, which is why it has become the default gift for staff, clients and event guests across Kenya. Getting it right comes down to four decisions: the bottle, the branding method, the artwork and the timing.

1. Choose a Bottle People Will Actually Use

The branding only works if the bottle does. A cheap bottle that leaks in a laptop bag carries your logo into the bin within a week.

  • Stainless steel vacuum bottles (500 ml or 750 ml) keep drinks hot or cold for hours and are the most popular corporate choice. Powder-coated finishes in black, white or navy look premium.
  • Aluminium sports bottles are lighter and cheaper, good for events and runs, but not insulated.
  • Glass bottles with sleeves suit wellness and eco-focused brands; heavier and more fragile to ship.
  • Digital bottles with a temperature display in the lid are a step up for executive gifts.
  • Tumblers with handles and lids suit office desks rather than bags.

Ask for one sample bottle before committing to a quantity. Check the lid seal, the weight and how it feels in the hand.

2. Choose the Branding Method

Method Colours Durability Best for
UV DTF (magic sticker) Full colour incl. white Good; hand wash Multi-colour logos, names, small runs
Laser engraving One (the metal) Permanent Executive gifts on powder-coated steel
Sublimation Full colour, no white Excellent White coated bottles and mugs

UV DTF is the most flexible: any logo, any colour, with individual names at no extra setup, from a minimum of half a metre of film (58 × 50 cm) that carries many designs at once. See what magic stickers are for how it works.

Laser engraving removes the powder coating to reveal the steel underneath. It cannot peel or fade — but the logo must work in a single colour, and gradients or photos are not possible.

Sublimation needs a white, polymer-coated surface. It is extremely durable but limited to specific bottles.

3. Get the Logo Placement Right

  • Size: on a 500 ml bottle the comfortable printable area is about 60 mm wide by 90 mm tall. Bigger logos wrap too far around the curve to be read at once.
  • Position: centred between the base and the shoulder, where the sides are straight. Avoid the tapered neck.
  • Orientation: vertical logos fit bottles naturally. A wide horizontal logo can run up the bottle vertically instead.
  • Second side: a tagline, event name or website on the back costs little extra with UV DTF.
  • Names: for personalised gifts, use one font and one size for all names, and send the list as a spreadsheet, spelled exactly as they should print.

Supply the logo as a vector file (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG). If you only have a PNG or JPEG, check it against our artwork file requirements.

4. Plan the Timeline

Branding a bottle is fast; getting the bottles is what takes time.

  • Standard bottles in common colours are usually available in Nairobi within a day or two.
  • Specific colours, premium brands or quantities over 300 can take longer.
  • Year-end is the busiest season for corporate gifting. For gifts needed in December, place the order by the end of October.

A realistic timeline for 100 branded bottles: one day for the quotation, one or two days for artwork approval and a sample, three to five working days for production and quality checks.

5. Ask for These in the Quotation

A clear quotation lists separately:

  1. the bottle (model, capacity, colour, unit price);
  2. the branding (method, size, number of positions);
  3. personalisation, if any;
  4. packaging: plain, individually wrapped or gift-boxed;
  5. delivery.

If you get a single total, ask for it broken down. It is the only way to compare suppliers fairly. For more on what drives the cost of the branding itself, see how much magic stickers cost in Kenya.

Completing the Gift

A bottle on its own is a gift; a bottle with a matching notebook, pen and branded box is a pack. The same order can include printed t-shirts, stickers and a printed card from our bulk printing line, all matched to the same brand colours.

We brand water bottles, tumblers, mugs and desk items in Nairobi with a sample before every run. See branded water bottles and corporate gifts for options and to request a quotation.
